CELEBRATING THE PLATEAU BASIC EDUCATION TEACHERS
Goodwill Message on the Occasion of International Teachers' Day Celebrations: 2024-10-05 On behalf of the Board Members, Management and Staff of Plateau State Universal Basic Education Board, the Executive Chairman, Hon Sunday Samuel Amuna extend warm felicitations to our dedicated teachers in Plateau State as they join the global community to celebrate International Teachers’ Day,2024. This year’s theme, “ Valuing teacher voices: Towards a new social contract for education", resonates profoundly within our context, as it highlights the pivotal role of the teacher in shaping not only the future of their learners but also the fabric of our society. You are the torchbearers of knowledge, nurturing minds, and inspiring hearts every day in our classrooms. In Plateau State, we recognize that the transformation of education is not solely a responsibility of the individual teacher but a collective endeavour that involves support from the government, communities, and stakeholders. Therefore, the management of the Board, with the unflinching support of the Plateau State Governor, His Excellency, Barr Caleb Mutfwang, reaffirms our commitment to enhancing teachers' professional development, through sustainable training programmes and provision of the necessary learning resources and infrastructure to create an enabling teaching-learning environment in our schools across the state. Our vision is that, together, we can foster a culture of continuous improvement where both teachers and learners thrive, laying a solid foundation for a more educated and prosperous future for the Plateau child. As we celebrate you today, we encourage you to rededicate yourselves to the shared vision of His Excellency, Barr Caleb Mutfwang, Executive Governor of Plateau State, which seeks the holistic development of education in our dear state, by passionately committing yourselves to your noble profession. I wish to also reassure you that, your dedication will not go unnoticed, and that the Board remain committed to your welfare; just as of today, salaries are paid as and when due, we have also commenced the payment of teachers on "Elongation", as well as implementing the financial implication of your promotions. This is in addition to the delibrate construction of additional blocks of classrooms and the provision of furniture, toilet facilities and water sanitation in most of our schools to profoundly and deliberately change the narrative in our basic education delivery efforts in the state. Once again, thank you for your service to our children, and may God bless our dedicated teachers! Happy Teachers Day!!!
